," Lil Nas X
performed his steamy and controversial song "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)" live for the first time — and ripped his pants mid-song.
Later, he tweeted, "NOT MY PANTS RIPPED ON LIVE TV, OMFG NO."
The tear was caused by his stripper-pole routine on stage, according to the Atlanta
rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill. The accident is obvious, as he looks down in surprise when it occurs, and he quickly uses his hand to cover the damage.

The 22-year-old two-time Grammy winner sparked homophobic outrage among conservatives in March with his video for "Montero," which featured Lil Nas X grinding on the devil
in a fantastical hell. To promote the video, a limited edition of 666 pairs of "Satan
Shoes," each containing a drop of allegedly donated human blood, were sold.
Last month, "Montero" debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100
Some of the elements from the video were recreated in the “SNL” performance.
On "SNL," Lil Nas X also performed his new single "Sun Goes Down," which is about the pain of being a closeted adolescent
, but it wasn't as dramatic.
