According to a new report, CNN
anchor Chris Cuomo
counseled his brother, New York
Gov. Andrew Cuomo
(D), on how to deal
with sexual harassment allegations leveled against him.
Chris Cuomo took part in a series of conference calls with the Democratic governor
's team earlier this year in which he urged his brother not to resign from his position despite the fact that multiple women had come forward to accuse the governor of sexual harassment, according to The Washington Post
Nine women came forward earlier this year to accuse Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment and inappropriate comments. Three women said the governor kissed them without their consent
, and one woman, who has remained anonymous, said the governor groped her last year at the governor's mansion. Andrew Cuomo is now being investigated by the state attorney general.
Chris Cuomo admitted to his CNN audience in March that he was aware of the allegations leveled against his brother.
“Obviously, I am aware of what is going on with my brother, and obviously, I cannot cover it because he is my brother,” Cuomo explained.
Chris Cuomo, however, had his brother's ear behind the scenes.
“The governor only trusts about five people
,” an anonymous Andrew Cuomo adviser told the Washington Post, explaining why Chris is on these calls.
CNN told The Washington Post in a statement that “it was inappropriate to engage in conversations with members of the Governor’s staff, which Chris acknowledges.”
No disciplinary action was taken by the network.
