(AP) — Police
in Los Angeles are investigating rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris
for alleged sexual abuse.
An active investigation is underway, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Cervantes, following the filing of a police report accusing the couple of sexual assault
by two women in Los Angeles and one in Las Vegas.
Cervantes stated that a report was taken on April
8 for a sexual assault involving the couple in 2005, but that no further details were provided by the police.
This month, Las Vegas police received a report of a sexual assault incident involving the couple that occurred in 2010, but the case was closed because it was reported after the statute of limitations had passed.
T.I. and his wife's attorney, Steve Sadow, said his clients "steadfastly deny and repudiate" all of the allegations, and that the couple has not spoken to or been contacted by police in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, or anywhere else in the country.
“The LAPD ‘accuser’ once again remains anonymous, preventing us from being able to disprove or refute — or even examine — her allegations,” Sadow said. “Meanwhile, while we now have for the first time a name of an ‘accuser,’ who apparently filed a police report with (Las Vegas Metropolitan Police), we have essentially no specifics about her or her claim, and her attorney has declined to comment.”
In general, the Associated Press
does not identify people
who claim to have been sexually abused.
Tyrone A. Blackburn, an attorney, stated in March that more than 30 women had contacted him, accusing T.I. and his wife of “forced drugging, kidnapping, rape
, and intimidation” in at least two states, including California
, over a 15-year period.
T.I. and Tiny's representatives refuted the allegations.
The VH1 reality show "T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle
" was canceled in February due to sexual abuse allegations.
