Milo Ventimiglia Retains His Shorts Are 'Normal Length' Following Online Scandal

Milo Ventimiglia insists he had no intention of igniting a debate about men's summer fashion when he was spotted wearing a pair of so-called "short shorts" last month.

On “The Talk” on Monday, the “This Is Us” and “Gilmore Girls” star discussed his much-discussed gym attire, explaining that his shorts appeared to be shorter than they actually are due to a mid-workout adjustment.

“I swear to God, this is just a guy leaving the gym,” he said, “I wasn’t even thinking about it. The shorts are normal length, but when I work out, I kinda pull them up just to work a little harder.”

Ventimiglia, 43, had fans swooning in April after he was photographed leaving a West Hollywood gym in running shorts that revealed his impressively toned legs on at least two occasions.

The photos coincided with the TikTok hashtag #5InchSeam going viral, and Men's Health responded to the frenzy a few days later by declaring, "The summer of 2021 will be all about guys showing some leg."

Since then, publications such as Harper's Bazaar and GQ have urged men to "free the calf! And maybe some of the thigh!"

Ventimiglia appeared to have caught on earlier this month, when he posted a photo of a pair of ASRV Sportswear shorts to Instagram with the caption, "Ride em high kids," on May 6.

Milo Anthony Ventimiglia (@miloanthonyventimiglia) shared this post on Instagram.

Ventimiglia said he's taking the newfound attention to his workout gear in stride, despite the fact that the shorts have been joked about among fellow gymgoers.

“Whatever anybody got excited about, or GQ calling it ‘short shorts summer,’ I’m excited about,” he joked, adding, “Whatever people want to do, that's cool.”
