Kate McKinnon Kills On 'Weekend Update' As A Not-So-Winning Liz Cheney

On "Saturday Night Live," chameleon Kate McKinnon delivered another killer impersonation, this time as a less-than-pleasant Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).

“Cheney” appeared on “SNL” after being kicked out of the House Republican leadership for her criticism of Donald Trump and her colleagues’ defense of the “big lie” that the presidential election was rigged.

“I fell down to hell like Lil Nas X, crashed with the devil, and bounced back up onto MSNBC,” McKinnon’s Cheney joked to co-host Colin Jost of “Weekend Update.”

“Colin, the Republican Party is changing. I'm not sure what happened! I'm not sure what I did wrong. Look at me. I'm everything a conservative woman is supposed to be: blond, mean.”

But she is not alone, “Cheney” insisted, citing Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, Chris Wallace, her father, Dick Cheney, Ann Romney, Ann’s horses, and “Colin Jost — fingers crossed!” said McKinnon.

Meghan McCain is also on her "to-do" list.

McKinnon described her support as the "great implosion of Trumpism."

But, to be honest, she's baffled by the fact that conservatives have largely abandoned her.

“Conservatives are abandoning me. What else can I do for you people?” she demanded. “I opposed gay marriage despite the fact that my own sister is a lesbian. I even tried to take away protections for gray wolves... I shoot buffalo in the a$$. And I'm not conservative enough?” she demanded.

“I'm trying to save you, Republicans,” she declared, “but you're like horses who won't leave a burning barn; you're going to die.”

Earlier this week, “Weekend Update” co-anchor Michael Che mentioned Cheney losing her leadership position in the House.

“Wow, yeah, I never thought I'd find myself feeling sorry for Liz Cheney—and I was right. I don't,” he joked.
