A journalist who witnessed GOP
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene
's "shocking" Capitol
confrontation with Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
said Thursday that Greene was "screaming
" as she "chased down" the Democratic lawmaker.
Greene, a QAnon supporter from Georgia
, denied witness accounts of her yelling at Ocasio-Cortez outside the House chamber on Wednesday.
Greene, in fact, was “screaming,” according to Washington Post journalist Jaqueline Alemany, while Ocasio-Cortez remained calm.
Greene's behavior is the "kind of behavior that would get you expelled from school," Alemany told MSNBC
's Chris Hayes, adding, "This is the kind of behavior that a parent would never tolerate from a child, let alone a member of Congress
“I’ve been covering Washington... for about a decade now, and I’ve never seen a lawmaker, an elected official, or really anyone in a professional setting act in such a manner,” Alemany said.
Greene, a Trump
supporter who had his House committee assignments revoked for telling outrageous lies about mass shootings
, stormed up to Ocasio-Cortez and demanded, "Why do you support terrorists and antifa?"
Ocasio-Cortez told reporters that Greene was screaming and acting like “people
I threw out of bars all the time” when she worked as a bartender, and she demanded that lawmakers be given extra security.
Greene described her actions in a different light.
“She said ‘screaming,'” Greene said, referring to Ocasio-Cortez’s account. “You know what screaming is? screaming is what people do when rockets are fired at them, like Hamas
terrorists firing into Israel
Alemany told MSNBC that she was so taken aback by the "aggressive" confrontation that she "didn't even have the presence of mind to record it."
In the video above, Alemany talks about what she saw.
