A man from northern Mississippi
has been arrested for allegedly assaulting police
officers with a metal
rod during the Jan. 6 riot at the United States
Michael Leon Brock
, 54, of Walls, Tennessee
, just south of Memphis
, was arrested Tuesday after video appeared to show him repeatedly pushing and striking officers with an estimated 4-foot rod as Trump supporters
stormed the Capitol during the Electoral College
“Oh, my God, he got him good! He got the cop good,” a bystander can be heard saying, pointing out the man in the olive green
hoodie, whom prosecutors identified as Brock in charging documents. Additional photos
of the man shared by the FBI
and collected by online sleuths known as “sedition hunters” show the words “God, Guns
, and Trump” on the hoodie.

Brock was charged with assault, resisting or impeding certain officers, and obstructing law enforcement
As of the six-month anniversary
of the attack
on July 6, more than 535 people
had been arrested in nearly all 50 states, according to the FBI, with at least 185 of those people charged.
On Monday, the first felony sentencing
stemming from the Capitol riot
occurred when a Florida
man was sentenced to eight months in prison
followed by 24 months of supervised release.
The attack killed five people and damaged the Capitol building for approximately $1.5 million.
The FBI maintains a list of suspects who are still wanted in connection with the attack, with photos and videos of these people available on the FBI's website.
