A highway in England
was temporarily closed after "idiots" forced a farmer's gate open, allowing a cow
to escape, according to police
A cow wandered onto the M6 highway in Doxey, Staffordshire, late Tuesday night, according to the Central Motorway Police Group. Officers responded alongside Highways England workers.
When "idiots forced [and] left a farmer's gate open," the cow escaped, according to police.
Officers were able to apprehend the cow behind a gate, and the bovine was escorted home
by police and local farmers who had come to assist.
"Many thanks to the drivers who were stranded while we closed the carriageway; your patience as we dealt with these and other incidents is greatly appreciated," police said.
