Incite an insurgency? Forgiveable. Systemic racism
? Not a problem. But criticize Chick-fil-A, and you should be careful, because that is the hill Sen. Lindsey Graham
(R-S.C.) is willing to die on.
On Wednesday, the senator dedicated a tweet thread to defending the chicken sandwich chain after students
at the University
of Notre Dame wrote a letter opposing a proposed Chick-fil-A restaurant on its Indiana
campus, citing “ethical concerns” about the chain’s well-known anti-LGBTQ stance and donations
to anti-LGBTQ causes.
Graham stated that it was "disappointing" to hear that "some ND students and faculty want to prohibit Chick-fil-A from doing business
on campus because they disagree with the values held by the Chick-fil-A founders."
“I want everyone in South Carolina
and across America
to know that I have Chick fil-A’s back,” he tweeted, adding, “I hope we don’t have to, but I will go to war for the principles Chick fil-A stands for. Great food
. Great service. Great values. God bless Chick fil-A!”
Critics were stunned but unsurprised by the news
Graham, a devoted Donald Trump
supporter, has remained steadfast in his support for the former president
even after he incited a violent insurgency on the U.S. Capitol
on Jan. 6. Graham has blamed others, including House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi
(D-Calif.), for the attack
, and while he has condemned the insurgency, his support for Trump has not waned.
On Wednesday, his name was trending after he expressed his feelings about the fast-food chain.
fraudster Lindsey Graham said he would go to war to defend Chick fil-A's principles of bigotry, intolerance, and hatred, but he ignores deadly insurgency because his head is still lodged in the orange ass of the scumbag who incited it. — Ricky Davila (@TheRickyDavila) July 15, 2021
US Generals had to intervene to prevent Trump from attempting a coup, but don't worry, @LindseyGrahamSC has Chick-fil-A covered. — Mr. Newberger (@jeremynewberger) July 15, 2021
Lindsey Graham vows to "go to war" for Chick fil-A; he wouldn't lift a finger to put down a violent insurgency, but he'd kill for a chicken sandwich — Duty To Warn (@duty2warn) July 14, 2021
Lindsey Graham is more upset about a bad chicken franchise than an insurgency at the Capitol that targeted his coworkers. How is he STILL a Senator? — BrooklynDad_Defiant! (@mmpadellan) July 15, 2021

When you'll defend Chick-fil-A but not an insurgency...I mean, that Polynesian sauce is divinity, and I miss it terribly, but get a grip, @LindseyGrahamSC. pic.twitter.com/q7LTMtqQpG — Amee Vanderpool (@girlsreallyrule) July 15, 2021
