Rep. Liz Cheney
(R-Wyo.) allegedly confronted Rep. Jim Jordan
(R-Ohio) on Jan. 6 as the insurgency unfolded and lawmakers were forced to flee as supporters of then-President Donald Trump
attacked the U.S. Capitol
According to a forthcoming book
Post reporters Carol D. Leonnig and Philip Rucker, “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year,” she told him, “You fucking did this.”
The book was obtained by The Daily Beast ahead of its release next week.
In it, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
, recounted a conversation he had with Cheney the day after the insurgency began.
“That fucking guy Jim Jordan. That son of a bitch.... I was standing in the aisle and he said, ‘We need to get the ladies out of the aisle. Let me help you.’ I smacked his hand away and told him, ‘Get away from me. You fucking did this.’”
Jordan, a longtime ally of the former president, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Trump just days after the Capitol attack.
Jordan has been accused of ignoring sexual molestation allegations leveled against the wrestling team doctor at Ohio State University
while serving as an assistant coach there.
Jordan has denied the allegations, but several athletes have come forward to back up the story.
Cheney was removed from House
leadership after blaming Trump for the insurgency; she will now serve on a House committee investigating the attack.
