The response to Donald Trump Jr
.'s mockery of Texas
during his Conservative Political Action Conference
speech in Dallas on Friday was deafening silence.
During his speech on the questionably shaped stage, ex-President Donald Trump's son slammed CNN
, President Joe Biden
, cancel culture
, and Dr. Anthony Fauci
, declaring that the "world is going to hell."
The Trump scion described his attendance at the event as "so awesome" and urged conservatives
to "stick together" because they "can't cancel all of us."
“It’s great to see it; Texas has always led the charge,” Trump Jr.
said, to applause from the audience.
But then he tried to muddle things up.
“Well, until about a couple of months ago, when Austin
sort of took over,” he continued. “Like, I don’t know guys. Texas was leading the charge. You’re still top 25.”
That comment elicited a decidedly more subdued response.
“We have to get to work
on that stuff because those people
have gone insane,” Trump Jr. added, to mostly tumbleweed from the audience.
“All right?” he inquired, only to be met with another awkward silence.
Trump Jr. shifted his gaze to his right before launching an attack
