When a cherry
grown on their farm weighed in at 1.16 ounces, a pair of Italian brothers set a Guinness World Record
Alberto and Giuseppe Rosso, from Pecetto Torinese, grew the Carmen cherry on their family
The Rossos claimed that their family has been growing cherries for over a century.
"We've noticed for a few years now that our Carmen cherries are Guinness world records in size, and this year we decided to do things right and called a panel of experts," Alberto Rosso told la Repubblica.
The weight of the cherry was confirmed by Italy
's National Institute of Metrological Research
, enough to break the previous record of.93 ounces set in February by a cherry grown in Italy.
