The daughter of Bruce Springsteen
and singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa has been chosen to compete in the Tokyo Olympics
According to the United States
Equestrian Federation, the 29-year-old will ride her
horse, Belgian Warmblood stallion Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, as part of the United States Olympic equestrian jumping team.
Springsteen wrote on Instagram
Tuesday, "I've been dreaming of this since I can remember."
“Endless gratitude to my team, friends
, and family
for making this a reality,” she said, adding that she was “honored to be a part of this team” and that there was “no horse in the world I’d rather be on this journey with.”
Springsteen, who is ranked 27th in the world, was an alternate rider for the London
Olympics in 2012 and did not compete in Rio de Janeiro
The U.S. jumping team includes Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut, and McLain Ward. The games begin July 23 and the jumping events take place from August 2 to 7.
In addition, "The Boss" will not be performing his "Springsteen on Broadway
" show in New York
from July 18 to August 16.
