Simone Biles Demonstrates Her GOAT Status With Rope-Climbing Bet With NFL Player Boyfriend

Following their participation in a rope climbing challenge, Simone Biles has a message for her NFL player boyfriend, Jonathan Owens: "Never underestimate a gymnast."

In the most recent episode of her Facebook Watch series, “Simone vs Herself,” the five-time Olympic medalist challenged the Houston Texans player to a rope climbing bet.

Biles and Owens discuss the terms of their bet at the beginning of the episode, which was published on Facebook earlier this week (though it is unclear when they filmed it). After Biles corrects the NFL player that he would get "50 bucks" if he won — rather than a foot massage, as he suggested — she quickly shows Owens that his terms didn't really matter after all.

Biles, widely regarded as the greatest gymnast of all time, quickly scales the rope, easily defeating her boyfriend.

“I had you about three-fourths of the way there, and I just... burned out,” Owens jokes.

On Friday, Biles shared an episode clip on Instagram.

“Never underestimate a gymnast,” she wrote in the caption, along with a laughing emoji, adding, “There’s nothing like a friendly challenge with your boyfriend.”

Owens is "so supportive" of Biles, she told People last month.

“Even if I wake up in the morning and jokingly say, ‘I'm tired, do I have to go,’ he's like, 'Don't say that! You can do it, this is your dream!'"

Owens tweeted a video of Biles after she won her seventh national women's all-around title at the US Gymnastics Championships last month.

“I can't stop watching this,” he wrote, adding, "[You're] so amazing out there, babe!"

In August 2020, Biles posted a photo of the two together with the caption, "It's just us."

After the Olympic Trials last weekend, Biles officially confirmed her spot on the United States women's gymnastics team for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

The 2016 Olympic champion, who won four gold medals, could be the first woman in more than 50 years to win consecutive Olympic titles at the Tokyo Games, which begin later this month.
