NORTH MIAMI BEACH
, Fla. (AP) — The city of North Miami Beach ordered the evacuation of a condominium building on Friday after an inspection revealed unsafe conditions.
In a news
release, the city stated that an audit prompted by the deadly collapse
of Champlain Towers South
discovered the 156-unit Crestview Towers
to be structurally and electrically unsafe.
“In an abundance of caution, the City ordered the building to be closed immediately and the residents evacuated for their safety, while a full structural assessment is conducted and next steps are determined,” City Manager Arthur
H. Sorey III said in a news release.
The North Miami Beach Police
Department assisted in the evacuation of Crestview residents, who lived in the building since 1972.
