“His relationship with them, and their relationship with him, is entirely transactional and conditional,” she told MSNBC
’s Rachel Maddow
on Thursday, adding that “they are not going to risk anything for him, just as he would not risk anything for them.”
Mary Trump spoke just hours after the Trump Organization
and longtime Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg
were charged with conspiracy
, grand larceny, criminal tax fraud
, and falsifying business
records in a criminal indictment.
They have pleaded not guilty, and Weisselberg is reportedly still loyal to Trump and is not cooperating with investigators against him.
Maddow pointed out that the indictment suggests that other executives may have benefited from the same scheme, implying that the three Trump siblings may be the next to face legal trouble.
And Mary Trump stated that they may approach the situation differently than Weisselberg.
“I think [Donald Trump] would be surprised to learn that I don’t think my cousins would be that loyal to him,” she said.
