A Slovakian firm flew its prototype flying car
between two cities for 35 minutes.
Klein Vision announced Monday that its AirCar Prototype 1 flew between Nita and Bratislava for 35 minutes, marking the company's first successful intercity flight.
According to the company, the AirCar reached a top speed of 118 mph and the trip took about half the time of a typical drive between the two cities.
"AirCar is no longer just a proof of concept," Klein Vision co-founder Anton Zajac said in a press release. "It has made science
fiction a reality."
The AirCar, which is powered by a 160 horsepower BMW engine, is designed to be converted into a sports
car in about 3 minutes using a button-operated process.
The company announced that it is now working on the AirCar Prototype 2, which will have a 300 horsepower engine and a range of 621 miles and will cruise at up to 186 mph.
