New video from the scene of last week's deadly building collapse
, shows damage in the condo's garage just minutes before the building collapsed.
Adriana Sarmiento, who posted the video on TikTok
, told WLS in Chicago
that she was swimming
at her hotel next to the Champlain Towers South
when she heard a crash
and went out to investigate, finding debris littering the garage and water

Sarmiento told CNN
that residents of the building walked out onto their balconies to see what was going on and urged them to evacuate, but she believes they didn't understand her.
The building fell seven minutes later.
“Thinking of everyone who lived there has been extremely difficult for me,” Sarmiento told the network.
At least 18 people
were killed and 145 are still missing after the building collapsed last week, according to reports, and the building was in need of major structural repairs.
According to The Associated Press
, contractors estimated that the building would cost $9 million to repair due to "abundant cracking and spalling" of concrete in the parking
garage and "major structural damage" to the concrete slab at the pool.
It's unclear what role, if any, those flaws played in the building's demise.
