Sen. Ron Johnson Interacted With A Chorus Of Boos At A Juneteenth Celebration In Milwaukee

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) was roundly booed at the Juneteenth celebration in Milwaukee on Saturday.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a member of a "growing crowd" of constituents booing the senator said, "we don't want you here."

The boos were so loud that the senator was drowned out while speaking to a TV reporter on camera at one point.

And if that wasn't enough, here's another video of Ron Johnson being drowned out by boos at today's #Juneteenth event in Milwaukee. Bonus: The booing is even louder in this one!pic.twitter.com/Bl4AQQwLv7 — TrumpsTaxes (@TrumpsTaxes) June 20, 2021

Johnson was displeased, telling the Journal that his treatment was "not how you heal a nation."

“Most people in Wisconsin say, ‘You are in our prayers; we are praying for you.’... But you got some people here who are just sort of nasty at times,” he told the Journal.

The senator claimed he only heard "one" obnoxious remark, but several others were recorded on Twitter.

One witness told the newspaper that “Ron Johnson’s politics are not for us.” A Twitter critic “translated” the boos to complaints about Johnson’s support for voter suppression and the Capitol insurgency, which he has insisted was “peaceful” (though he also said he would have been “concerned” if the rioters had been Black Lives Matter protesters).

Spectators were also outraged that Johnson has steadfastly opposed making Juneteenth a holiday, blocking the bill from moving forward in the Senate last year due, he claimed, to cost concerns.

This year, he finally backed down at the last minute, then quickly tried to capitalize on the holiday by showing up at the city's celebration.

Just in case the news doesn't cover it, Black residents booed Ron Johnson and escorted his hypocritical asshat out of the Milw #JuneTeenth2021 Celebration for claiming to support Juneteenth after previously voting against it!
