Kim Kardashian Explains Why She Didn't Back Out Of Kris Humphries' Wedding

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries' 72-day marriage is still in the Hall of Fame for celebrity marriages that last less than a year, and the reality star admitted to Andy Cohen during a candid interview that aired Thursday night that she had reservations about the wedding the night before the ceremony.

The interview with the Bravo host was part of the Kardashian family's reunion special, which marked the end of 20 seasons of their hit reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." All five sisters — Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe Kardashian, as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner — appeared with their mom, Kris Jenner, to discuss the events of the past 14 years.

Despite Khloe Kardashian declaring at her sister's engagement party that the marriage would not last and Kris Jenner attempting to persuade her daughter to flee the night of the rehearsal dinner, Kim Kardashian stated that she did not feel she could abandon the wedding and her future husband.

“I thought, ‘OK. We’re filming this for a TV show. If I leave, I’m going to be known as the runway bride forever. And it’s going to be a huge joke,” she explained of her hesitation to leave before the wedding in 2011. “And I thought, ‘I have cold feet.’ So I was like, ‘OK guys, it’s just cold feet, I’ve got this.”

“And you know, the show paid us, obviously, a fee to film the show. I took my entire fee, and probably Kris [Humphries] because I wanted a bigger wedding than what they were going to pay for, so I used all of our production money on the wedding. So if that was fake, I would’ve like, saved my money,” she added.

When Cohen asked directly if Kardashian had partially completed the wedding for the show, she replied emphatically, "Yes."

“I felt pressured, as if I was going to let everyone down,” she admitted.

By the time the couple arrived in Italy for their honeymoon, the reality star admitted she realized she had made the wrong decision.

“Then I went to New York and I was miserable,” she explained.

“But I was so nervous about breaking up with someone that I handled it completely wrong; I completely broke up with him in the worst way possible, and I just didn't know how to deal with it.”

When Cohen asked if Kardashian felt she owed Humphries an apology, she responded, "Absolutely!"

“And I tried calling him for months,” she said, adding that they met once at the Beverly Hills Hotel but he refused to speak to her.

“He’s very religious,” she explained, “and I’m sure he would’ve liked to not have a marriage on his record; he wanted an annulment.”

“If I had been more mature, I would have wanted the annulment as well; I wish I had only been married once,” Skims creator added.

Kardashian and Humphries started dating in 2010 and got engaged in 2011. They married on August 20, 2011, at a private estate in Montecito, California, all filmed in front of E! cameras. Kim filed for divorce on October 31, the same year, which the NBA player appeared to be surprised by.

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce,” he told TMZ at the time of Kardashian’s divorce announcement, adding that he found out about the split through TMZ itself. “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents, and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Kardashian is divorcing her third husband, Kanye West, with whom she has four children: North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm.
