The production of NBC
's upcoming competition show "Ultimate Slip 'N Slide" has been halted indefinitely, according to reports, after multiple crew members became ill with diarrhea
According to The Wrap, “up to 40 crew members fell violently ill,” citing a “person with knowledge of the production.” This person stated that people
were “collapsing” and “forced to run into port-o-potties” due to “awful explosive diarrhea.”
also reported that multiple people were sick with gastrointestinal symptoms, citing an anonymous source "close to production."
NBC spokespersons did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Stardia, but People confirmed that the shutdown began on June 2 and that at least one crew member tested positive for Giardia, a parasite that causes diarrhea.
According to People, Universal Television
Alternative Studios, which is producing the show for NBC, is "in the process of determining next steps in order to complete production."
In a May press release, the show was described as a “wet-and-wild new series [that] takes the spirit of the classic backyard slide and transforms it into a real-life water
park full of gigantic slippery rides with the chance to win a big cash prize.”
It is set to debut on August 8, but it is unclear how the diarrheal delay will affect this.
