(AP) — A man has died as a result of his injuries sustained in a mass shooting
on a crowded downtown Austin street that injured more than a dozen people
, according to police
Douglas John Kantor, 25, died Sunday at 12:01 p.m. after being hospitalized with critical gunshot wounds following the early Saturday morning shooting, the Austin Police Department said in a news
release, which Lt. Brian Moon confirmed.
Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on a street packed with bars and barricaded off from vehicle traffic, and that investigators believe it started as a dispute between two parties.
Chacon stated that at least one suspect was apprehended, but the department provided no additional information other than to say that it is still following up on leads for a second suspect who is still at large, and that an investigation
