is making headlines once again for being, well, Kid Rock.
On Saturday, the “Only God Knows Why” singer casually used a homophobic slur while performing at Fishlipz Bar & Grill in Smithville, Tennessee
, which was caught on camera and obtained by TMZ
, and the musician
appeared to be irritated by audience members filming him with their phones.
In the video, Kid Rock looks directly into one phone and sings, "Fuck your iPhone
, yeah!" He then flips off the person filming him and continues to sing, before stepping onstage and signaling to his crotch, crooning, "You can post this, you can post this, you can post this dick right now."
He then uttered the slur, which is censored in the video, "You fucking f****ts with your phones out!"
This latest venomous outburst comes on the heels of a string of negative headlines involving the musician.
Kid Rock initially refused to close his Nashville
bar during the coronavirus pandemic
, despite the city's mayor's order to do so.
Kid Rock also supported musician Morgan Wallen
, who was suspended from his label and removed from country music
stations after being caught on tape making a racial slur, by giving Wallen his first gig after the controversy at his bar in May.
So it's not surprising that when the latest Kid Rock news
broke earlier this week, people
were, well, unsurprised.
people — and advocates — reacted appropriately to the musician's hateful tweet by dismissing him as a troll.

I, for one, am surprised that noted LGBTQ ally Kid Rock would say anything homophobic. https://t.co/E59KBine5M

When I found out Kid Rock had made a homophobic remark, I drove 12 hours to my parents' house
, went into the attic, found Kid Rock's latest cassette, and threw it out. — Tony Posnanski (@tonyposnanski) June 7, 2021
When Kid Rock becomes popular, it is usually because of homophobia
, never because of talent, which would be absurd. — Heyoka (@HeyokaEmpath01) June 7, 2021
