John Oliver's Cheerios Trolling Extends Brilliantly

John Oliver has gotten his hands on a box of whoop-ass on Cheerios.

In a "Last Week Tonight" web segment on Sunday, the host slammed the cereal's "toothless" Twitter account, daring the breakfast brand to use the F-word in exchange for a charitable donation from Oliver and company.

However, the challenge did not end there.

Cheerios responded that it couldn't use the F-bomb because it is a family brand, but offered a donation of its own if Oliver tweeted the Cheerios bumper sticker treacle that he mocked on his show: "Families make good go round."

[email protected] @LastWeekTonight You know we're a family brand, so we can't drop the F. We'll donate $50,000 to @nokidhungry and another $50,000 to the charity of your choice if you tweet, "Families make good go round." — Cheerios (@cheerios) May 31, 2021

On Wednesday, Oliver went above and beyond, tweeting the sweet words alongside photos of the Manson family, the parent-killing Menendez brothers, and an institutional wing named after the Sackler family of Oxycontin titans who fueled the opioid crisis.

“Last Week Tonight” kept feeding Cheerios and selecting its own random user to bestow a “fuck you” on.

We apologize; we have been informed that one of the photos we used may have depicted murderers; we are investigating this and will respond as soon as possible. — Last Week Tonight (@LastWeekTonight) June 2, 2021

Also, even if you don't, we'll happily choose a random Twitter user and tell them to fuck themselves. — Last Week Tonight (@LastWeekTonight) June 2, 2021

However, the charity was not lost in the comedy, as “Last Week Tonight” made the donation to No Kid Hungry.

We're donating $50,000 to No Kid Hungry simply because it made us feel good. — Last Week Tonight (@LastWeekTonight) June 2, 2021
