Rep. Adam Kinzinger
(R-Ill.) repeatedly poked Donald Trump
in the ribs with the one word the former president allegedly despises.
Kinzinger referred to him as a “loser
In a recent press release, Trump used the "L" word to describe Kinzinger and other members of his own party, but the Illinois
lawmaker was unfazed, instead offering Trump a blunt reminder of recent history.
“I’ve never lost an election, but he has,” Kinzinger said, adding, “He’s the only loser in that mix, and we’re trying to grab onto him as if he’s somehow the ticket to the future, and he’s instead obsessed with the fact that he lost again at something.”
Kinzinger, who voted for impeachment
this year across party lines, believes Trump should spend his post-presidency championing an issue that is important to him, as previous presidents have done.
Neither has Trump.
“He’s down there obsessing over the fact that he’s a loser,” Kinzinger explained. “I’m sorry you’re a loser, but you lost.”
Trump frequently uses the term "loser" in his insults and is offended when it is used against him.
“The first thing he calls someone who has wronged him is a loser,” Jack O’Donnell, who ran a casino for Trump in the 1980s
, told The New York
Times last year. “That’s his main attack
word. The worst thing in his world would be to be called a loser, and he will do or say anything to avoid being called a loser.”
