Michael Flynn, Trump's Former National Security Adviser, Has Called For A Coup In The United States Akin To That Of Myanmar.

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, a self-proclaimed QAnon disciple and convicted felon, has called for a Myanmar-style military coup in the United States.

“It should happen,” Donald Trump’s former national security adviser said at a QAnon conference on Sunday.

Myanmar's military violently took control of the country from its civilian government in late January, detained democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and top party members, and killed more than 700 protesters as of early this month, citing unproven "election fraud."

In response to a question from the audience at the conference, Flynn described his dark vision of a military coup and dictatorship in the United States.

′′I want to know why what happened in Myanmar can't happen here?” an unidentified audience member asked Flynn, though he pronounced the country "Minnimar."

“There’s no reason,” Flynn said, to wild applause, “but it should happen.”

It is not the first time Flynn has advocated for a military takeover of a democratically elected government; in December, after Trump lost the election, he retweeted a message urging the president to declare martial law and occupy the White House by force.

Flynn has had a wild week as the keynote speaker at the four-day QAnon conference at the Omni Dallas Hotel, ironically titled “For God & Country Patriot Roundup.”

Another featured speaker was conspiracy theorist lawyer Sydney Powell, who is being sued for $1.3 billion for false statements about Dominion voting machines.

Earlier in the conference, Flynn claimed that he is “not a conspiracy theorist,” but then declared, “Trump won! He won! He won the popular vote, and he won the Electoral College vote.” (He didn’t.)

Flynn resigned as Trump's national security adviser after only 22 days due to reports that he lied about his contact with a Russian official. He pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FB about his secret dealings with Russian ambassador to the US and suspected spy Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition, a felony, and then battled to have his plea withdrawn.

After Flynn lost the election, Trump pardoned him in November.

Trump pardoned him for "any and all possible offenses" he may have committed in connection with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Kremlin meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Following the pardon, U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan angrily dismissed Flynn's case.

“A pardon does not necessarily render a defendant ‘innocent’ of any alleged violation of the law,” Sullivan wrote in a 43-page memorandum, adding that “the Supreme Court has recognized that the acceptance of a pardon implies a ‘confession’ of guilt.” He referred to the pardon as a “political” decision, not a legal one.

Even as he promotes a military coup against the democratically elected and constitutionally protected government, Flynn keeps his military title and receives a full military pension.

Flynn's call for violence against the government infuriated critics on Twitter.

Can the @FBI come after him? Is this protected under the 1st amendment? He was the former National Security Advisor for goodness sake, and now he's calling for the government to be deposed. — Michael (@mcomofl) May 30, 2021

We now return you to the Republican coup, which is already underway...THIS is why the GOP wants to obstruct any investigation into the January 6th attack on the Capital: it begins and ends with them. — DC Lascelle (@DCLascelle) May 30, 2021

Flynn will most likely be prosecuted under 18 U.S. Code 2385. It's incredible that someone with the rank of General in the United States Army who was also a National Security Advisor could get away with calling for a Myanmar-style couphttps://t.co/UE1smjfSOF — riwoche (@riwoche) May 30, 2021

This statement should cost him his rank and retirement; he stated that a coup should take place here; enough said. — Brian Lee Reinarz (@BrianReinarz) May 31, 2021
